Most Polish municipalities offer grants to NGOs and, due to a current legislation, the selection process is transparent. Grants offered by the municipalities are, in most cases, significantly lower than those given on a regional or national level, but it is also easier to work with a local authority than with the ministry or other nationwide institutions. There are several ways a municipality can support a youth work:

  • Open call for proposals (Otwarty konkurs) - the most common way of supporting initiatives of NGOs.
  • Small grant (Mały grant) - If the activity can be completed within 90 days and a budget doesn't exceed 10 000 PLN, an NGO can apply for the support directly to a local authority.
  • Participatory budgeting (budżet obywatelski/partycypacyjny) - NGOs can make a proposal within the participatory bugdeting process and, if it is voted by the majority of the population, local authority will have to implement it.

In order to get detailed information about the way your local authority supports NGOs, go to the city hall or check its website.
